      Gentian is a flower of the Alps from which we gain The Bach Flower “Gentian”, that cures persons with doubt, who have lost confidence and “nihilists”, according to them” there is nothing good in life”! Gentian is a flower that resists cold and adversity and therefore in the language of flowers it is associated to constancy and determination. The most famous Gentian is the blue one, but there are lots of Gentian with yellow, white and red flowers. From the Gentian root we extract very bitter substances for the production of spirits, thanks to its excellent digestive properties.


      Gentian has also laxative, anti-fever, skin disinfectant, healing, tone-up, appetite stimulating, anti- fermentative, analgesic, worm killing, decongestant, anti-inflammatory, immune system stimulating, stomach digestive stimulating, antibiotic, menstruation regulating, aromatic and bile secretion stimulating effects. Gentian is advised for convalescents in order to cure anemia, asthenia, anorexia, asthma, atonic dyspepsia, flatulence, toothache, intestinal worms, oily skin, loss of appetite, abdominal swelling, arthritis, fever, intoxication, smoking, cough, icterus, scurvy, cold, gout, liver and spleen disorders. Gentian is not recommended in case of hiatal hernia, esophagitis and hyper gastric acidity. The root of Gentian should be always used dry, never fresh because it is poisonous. Gentian is also available as infusion, powder, water extract, mother tincture and decoction.
