      Lavander

Lavender is a typical Mediterranean plant and symbol of Provence, famous for its scent. Maybe someone remembers the lavender bags that our grandmothers put into the cupboard in order to give scent to sheets. It gives a fresh and clean scent but also helps against insomnia. From Lavender we gain a more versatile essential oil. The lavender honey is very fine crystallized, clear, aromatic and amber color that reminds of nougat and sweet tobacco of pipe.

It is used in case of respiratory problems, insect stings, insomnia, dizziness, hypertension, neurasthenia and headache. Lavender is an analgesic, antispasmodic and relaxing product and heals also the vocal cords. It can be eaten with Montasio cheese or Sardinian and Sicilian cheese made with sheep milk.

Lavender is also used to give flavor wine, gelatin, sweets, vinegar, insect stings and insomnia. It is analgesic and digestive. In the Middle Age people thought that lavender bring prosperity and fertility. From the astrologic point of view it is connected to Gemini; from the point of view of flower language Lavender has two meanings “difference” and “your memory is my joy”. Moreover as an essential oil Lavender can be found in water, essence and infusion. Further properties of Lavender are carminative, expectorants, balsamic, digestive, anti-rheumatic, anti-inflammatory, anti-septic and wound healing effects.
