      Sage is one of the most famous aromatic plants with its deodorant, digestive ,flavor giving, especially for pasta, fish, meat, rice and vegetable soup! Its name derives from latin “salvus” that means “healthy” or “salus” that means “health”. Indeed sage were very known by Ancient Egyptian, Greek and Romans. The therapeutic qualities of sage are known also in Orient as for example in the Chinese medicine sage is used to cure depression, insomnia, menstrual problems, mental problems and gastro-intestinal disorders.

      Ayurveda medicine instead uses sage against eye problems, hemorrhoids and problems in the reproduction system. In kitchen you have to be careful not to add too much because it has a stronger flavor than spices. Did you know what sage means in the language of flowers? The meaning changes according to the kind of sage you give as a gift: if it is blue it means “I appreciate your qualities”, if the sage is purple it means “ambition” and if it is aura color be careful that means “venality”. From sage we get an essential oil, known for its warming and expectorating qualities. Sage has also stimulating for the menstruation and is recommended in case of amenorrhea . This herb has also diuretic, hypo glycemic, balsamic, anti-septic, anti-fever, ant-spasmodic and anti- catarrh qualities. Sage is recommended in case of cough, catarrh, dysmenorrhea, water retention, edema, irritable bowel, headache, rheumatism, diabetes, fever and sore throat.
