      The white willow is suitable to cure fever, rheumatism, lice, arthrosis, arthritis, fibroids pains, insomnia, dysmenorrhoea, diabetes, gout, stomach acidity , cold, anemia, anxiety, dandruff, cervical pain, backache, headache, skin rash, dysentery , priapism bile lithiasis, anguish, gastroenteritis and diarrhea typical of warm countries or of warm seasons in order to heal diseases due to excessive humidity. It belongs to the “bitter herbs”, its therapeutic properties were already known to the times of Egyptians and of Hypocrites.

      The white willow has absorbent, anti-septic, anti-pyretic, worm killing, sedative, disinfectant, anti-spasmodic, analgesic, anti-neuralgic, astringent, anti-phlogistic, refreshing, sweating stimulating, fatigue avoiding and carminative effects. From this tree we gain also the same acid as used for the aspirin, but without the side effects of it. The white willow is also an aphrodisiac and in the Middle age it was administered to ecclesiastical. The white willow can be taken as infusion, decoction and mother tincture. The footbaths with this plant improve sleep. In Africa in the case of enterocolitis, people chew simply the bark of a “brother tree” of white willow without using chemicals and they get excellent results. The white willow is not recommended for persons with allergies to its acid during pregnancy and breast feeding. In the flower language the white willow means sadness and pain, therefore who suffered from love “told ” it through the garlands of this tree.
