      Karanja oil

      The Karanja oil, also called pongamia oil, derives from India and is an ingredient of the Ayurvedic medicine. In India this plant is called Indian beech. This plant grows mainly in the region of Chennai, in South India. The oil is used as skin protection against the sun and against aging, furthermore it has antiseptic properties. The root of the tree is useful to produce ropes and laces, black rubber, to heal the bites of poisonous fishes. While the oil and the extract are an excellent insecticide. Maybe one day the oil can be used even as combustible.
