      Baobab is an African plant whose positive effects aren’t known very well in Europe yet. The name of this plant is of Arabian origin, actually it means “tree of numerous seeds”. In black Africa the baobab is called “tree of life”, “magic tree”, “medicinal tree”. For example in Zimbabwe a baobab tree can offer shadow to about 40 person, therefor it often serves as bus stop. In Guinea and in the whole occidental Africa the pulp is used as vermifuge, to cure problems at the urinary tract and to prepare adipsous and refreshing beverages.

      The pulp contains a lot of vitamins A, C, BB and PP, calcium, potassium, manganese, magnesium, zinc and phosphor. Often the pulp is reduced to a powder, it is known for its laxative, antioxidant, anti- inflammatory, antiviral, regenerating, anti- diarrhoic, disinfecting, analgetic, slimming, fungicidal, cholesterole reducing, antipyretic, tonic, elastizing, antiallergic, lubrificant, emenagoge properties. Baobab powder is recommended for sportspersons or in case of respiratory or influential problems, anemia, diabetes or congestion. This powder can be consumed with water, yogurt, fruit juice, cold tea or milk. From the baobab seeds there is extracted an oil which is known for its antioxidant and lenitive qualities. It’s recommended in case of wrinkles, bedsore, acne, psoriasis, insect bites, inflammations, mycosis, herpes, erythema, burns, hypotension, rheumatism. It can also be used as natural aftershave or aftersun. The assumption of baobab powder is also recommended for people who suffer from osteoporosis, celiac disease, smokers, vegetarians, anmic persons, convalescent and pregnant women.
