      Wellness in summer

The main function of wellness in summer is that of protecting the skin against sunlight, it helps to receive a beautiful browning but at the same time it protects the skin against aging and melanomas. Therefor it’s important to use the suncream and the sunstick at least 20 minutes before doing the sun bath, in order that the protection is already active. The protective factor should be high, since the suncream anyway offers a good and homogeneous browning.

After the sun bath there should be applied an after sun lotion, for giving the skin some humidity. Another effect of the sun is that of making the skin more oily.  The purifying masks are excellent during the warm season, even the alimentation acts an important part in skin protection. Therefor it’s important to eat red, yellow and orange vegetables, as they are rich in beta- carotenes, excellent to prepare the skin for the browning. Some examples are: carrots, melons, peperonis, tomatos, papaya, mangos, strawberries…Other summer products which stimulate the well- being are for instance herbs and spices: they have little calories and flavour the dishes without containing salt, as salt facilitates cellulitis and water retention.

However salt is an excellent ingredient for baths and scrubs, it absorpes reduntant water and toxins in the body. A marine salt bath with essential oils is very beneficial as it has energizing and refreshing qualities. Beside from offering the skin protection against the sun it’s important to maintain the legs fresh, as with the hot temperature during summer the legs became heavy. The typical remedies against heavy legs are footbaths and salt baths or baths with bicarbonate, it’s also possible to add essential oils like that of orange, lemon, mint or pine. For fighting the heat and the mugginess effervescent beverages should be avoided, as they swell the stomach, moreover they are rich in “empty” calories.

Instead of it it’s better to drink cold teas (without ice), fresh pressed orange juices or green tea with lemon, these beverages have all cleaning and adipsous properties. Even fruit and vegetables are a very hepful remedy during the hot season, excellent to prepare some delicious mixed drinks and juices without sugar…the bought juices often contain sugar even if they have the label “sugar- free”.
